× Preview and Undo Glyph Transform

Post by kenproulx »

would be really really nice to have a live preview function on the glyph transform menu as well as an undo command. as it is now, it makes it very hard and painful to experiment with different options. one must try out and then close the font without saving, reopen, and start over to keep the change from being permanent if one does not like the effect.

Try changing the name before making changes. The original will always be readily available.
Delete versions you don't like without saving.

Try this method to work around the problem:
  1. Select just one glyph or a range of glyphs
  2. Copy them to the clipboard
  3. Open the Glyph Transformer and change the settings
  4. OK to apply the Transformation
  5. Paste the clipboard contents back into the same glyphs
  6. Undo
Now you can open the glyph edit window and do a quick and easy before/after comparison by using Redo/Undo (Ctrl Y, Ctrl Z). Adjust your settings and repeat.

The preview toolbar (shortcut P to view the selected glyphs, or F8 to toggle), is also useful for comparing before/after results in either the overview or the glyph edit window. You can change the font size and turn kerning off/on.
