Variable Fonts

Post by Glyphman »

Hi, I have asked if you are going to implement "Variable Font" managing earlier. Now it's coming fast on the web. I know it's a big step, but it's good to know if I shall wait for it... or looking for another tool to handle just variable fonts?

Look at this link:

We're working on it, but again please be patient. You might see some first steps at the end of this year.

We are also working on other improvements which will probably become available sooner.

Hey Erwin,

No rush, I know you are working on dozens of features simultaneously.
Will there be a beta version to help with testing? can we help in some way to make progress?
I'd love to use this feature in FC.

Erwin has released multiple bug fixes and minor updates in recent weeks, but variable fonts clearly won't happen this time around. Maybe for FontCreator 14.

At the moment there is not much progress related to variable fonts, but it is number one on our to-do list, after we have released MainType 10 next month.
