Post split from implemented feature request.

The most efficient method to add an anchor is to right-click where you want to add the anchor, then press the access key "n".

This brings up the Add Anchor dialog with the co-ordinates already entered. Any shortcut could, at best, open the dialog with the co-ordinates at 0,0 or wherever the mouse cursor happens to be (the Windows menu key or Shift+F10, followed by access key "n", already does that).

I have created abvm and blwm lookup and added the base glyphs and marks in it..but when I click on "show anchor" option in glyph edit window the anchor is not showing....so I need to click add anchor option for each glyph to add anchor..why I need to do this as I have already ruled them in abvm and blwm features...

I know I can even adjust them in Opentype designer but due to its small space compared to glyph edit window I want to adjust them in Glyph edit window..

The anchors are probably NULL. That means, OpenType layout features will recognize the anchor, but won't use it. In order to activate it, you need to uncheck the NULL option in the OpenType Designer.

It seems you prefer the anchors to be activate as soon as you add glyphs to a anchor based positioning lookup. Is that correct?

I understand your preference. But before we decide how to improve this, we would like to know the opinion of other people who extensively edit OpenType layout features.

Request for Shortcut for Adding Anchor in Glyph Edit Window, I think it will be useful, because access to Anchor Manager from font list or Anchors windows by right click list.. adding Shortcut icon for these two windows or maybe unified them with one window, in my humble opinion will be useful.

I was hoping you could come up with something better. Please describe the current process of adding anchors, so we might be able to take this to the next level.

Hi,
In addition, i would like to suggest adding a (anchors) tag inside options window to allow users control anchors position.
for example in Arabic font all base glyphs should have top and bottom anchors, my second version of Gasq font have approximately (7306) marktobase positioning plus (351) marktoligature, that is mean i should make more than (600) anchors (top an bottom) and this will be multiply by number of mark position, i am suffering from this because it is take days of work.
my idea is to let FontCreator control this process according to some options, so the glyphs will be combined instantly with Anchors (especially top and bottom because it is required in Arabic font), no need to put it manually for each glyphs. image below may be help....
I hope what I come up with is useful ...thanks.

Thank you for all your suggestions so far. For the next couple of weeks we will keep an eye on this topic, and we hope more people will come up with some good ideas. We will then decide if it is worth the time to further improve on anchors.
