Angle font

Post by William »

I had an idea for a font earlier this morning and made a start at producing it for just under an hour.

I have uploaded the font to the web.

http://www.users.globalnet.co.uk/~ngo/ANGLE001.TTF

I have installed the font on the PC which I am using and I have tried it out in WordPad at 48 point in blue.

In this first stage version there are four uppercase letters and fifteen lowercase letters.

Here are the notes which I made in a text file named Angle font.rtf using the Microsoft WordPad program as I proceeded.

----

Saturday 13 October 2007

Start a new font Angle 001 in ANGLE001.TTF using FontCreator 5.6.

Run Autonaming so as to set the date in the format which I prefer.

Set metrics to 2048, 0, -768.

Try an H.

Set space and nonmarkingreturn to have widths of 1024. This may perhaps be changed later.

Try an A by adapting a copy of H.

Try an O by adapting a copy of A.

Try an o by adapting a copy of o.

Try a p by adapting a copy of o.

Try a q by adapting a copy of p.

Try a T by adapting a copy of H.

Try an e by adapting a copy of o.

Try a lowercase l by adapting a copy of H.

Try a c by adapting a copy of e. This may perhaps be changed later. Is it too pointed?

Try an n by adapting a copy of o.

Try an m by adapting two copies of n.

Try an h by adapting a copy of n.

Try an a by adapting a copy of e.

Try a b by adapting a copy of p.

Try a d by adapting a copy of q.

Try a g by adapting a copy of q.

Try an s by adapting a copy of a.

Try an r by adapting a copy of n.

There's something very 8-bit-computerish about the style... I like it!

Earlier this morning I produced an A3 poster design as an example of using this font.
