Veluvana is an attractive brush calligraphic font with petite capitals, ligatures, and the usual wide range of glyphs supporting Basic Greek, and Latin Extended character sets. It includes OpenType features for using small capitals, ligatures, Oldstyle figures, scientific inferiors, ordinals, and superscripts in applications that support them.

OpenType Features and Kerning Pairs were added to the font with FontCreator 9.0

Updated to version 2.3 with additional glyphs for Unicode 6.0 and more OpenType features, Historical Ligatures, Stacking fractions, etc. Small Capitals are greater than x-height as this font is designed for decorative text rather than body text.

This is some very nice decorative text you posted, Bhikkhu! Thanks a lot for posting the Typeface samples! Were you the one who created this particular font? Judging by the equally simple and elaborate design, I'm going to safely assume that the Veluvana font took a while to create. If this was your creation, how long did this ultimately take you? Also, has anyone else managed to utilize your font for any sort of projects?

Updated to version 2.6 with a full set of currency symbols for Unicode 7.0.

The group-based kerning feature in FontCreator makes it so much faster to kern fonts. The initial stage of creating the groups and adjustment pairs for one font is quite time-consuming, but the OpenType script can be exported and imported into other fonts. Autokern does most of the hard work, so one then has to manually check through only a few hundred paired groups even in a font with over 20K kerning pairs, to adjust a few values that Autokern gets wrong.

Version 2.70 fixes a bug in the OpenType feature precedence. You can now use Petite Capitals without disabling Standard and Discretionary Ligatures.

Version 2.80 adds standard ligatures for fff and fffl, and discretionary ligatures for sf, sfi, sfy, sh, and sk, and some Ornaments for typing chess symbols. Subscripts were added for a-z for fractions. The digits and superscripts were smoothed.

Version 2.90 completes the Number Forms, Currency, Latin Extended Additional, and Dingbat character sets for Unicode 8.0. The Petite Capitals feature was changed to Small Capitals as the glyphs are greater than x-height.

Some more kerning pairs and an ffj ligature were added, and some bugs were fixed.

Version 2.91 adds Web and WOFF versions with fewer glyphs.

Version 3.10 fixed many issues with glyph outlines, added Localized Forms for Romanian, fij and ijacute ligature for Dutch, more Stylistic Alternates, improved the kerning classes and added many more kerning pairs.
