Do I need to uninstall first?

Hi,

Thanks for the 2.1.1 update! I'm still running 2.0 and ready to install 2.1.1.

I find that when it's time to update, most software doesn't mention whether is it necessary to uninstall the older version first, or not. This is the case with MainType, too. I can't find any reference whether it's necessary to uninstall or it's ok to install on top of 2.0.

I can't keep track of various software packages which one I need to uninstall and which I don't. So it would be helpful if a paragraph could mention this maybe at the download section. (...and I hope I'm not blind, but couldn't see any reference).

So should I or shouldn't I uninstall first?

Hi Les,

You don't need to uninstall the older version first. Just install the newer version over the top of the older version. This method updates the necessary files and ensures that any options you have set are retained.
