I spent hours tagging all of my fonts, then exported the tags and ratings to an XML file.

I had to re-install MainType, and when I went to: Tools/Import and Export/Import Tags and Ratings, and chose my file, nothing happened. It didn't import my previously saved tags.

There seems to be no specific documentation on how this is supposed to work, so let me know if I'm doing it right.

I just tested by exporting my Tags, Ratings, and Notes, then I cleared the tags and ratings on a whole group, and imported my backup.

Everything was restored as expected.

Which version are you using?

I exported them in version 9, then upgraded to v10, uninstalled everything and re-installed v9. Tags were gone and like I said re-importing simply didn't work.

Am I doing it right:

Oh wait, weirdly they are there now. I had to close out of the program and re-start it. Is that normal, or should they show up immediately?

Perhaps it is necessary to restart due to the version change. Do make a new backup from ver 10 because the format has changed to include notes.

Do a full backup of your font database too.
