Maintype won't install fonts because they're "similar"

Post by rheabarron »

Maintype keeps refusing to install several of my fonts, saying that there is already a "similar" font installed. This is a fresh installation on my new laptop. I've checked and there are no "similar" fonts installed. But there seems to be no way past that "similar" refusal, So there are quite a few fonts that I desperately need that I can't install. Any ideas about how I can fix this?

I have seen the message a few times, but there always is a similar font installed.

Have you tried using the quick search field to locate the similar font?

Which version of MainType are you using? I notice that the current version now automatically uninstalls the similar font so that it can install the selected font.

Look within the Active fonts.
