I have been contributing to the wiki at
http://www.laptop.org which, now, uses the following Creative Commons licensing.

An interesting experiment would be to produce a font with just a few glyphs in it, put it on the web with the above Creative Commons licence then observe what happens as to whether other people develop the font.
If person A starts the font, then if person B and person C independently make derivate fonts and publish them, then there would be two distinct branches. However, maybe then person D would make a derivate font of both of those fonts, by gathering the glyphs into another font and thus reuniting the branches: however, any mapping clashes would need to be resolved.
It could all get to be quite a management problem very quickly!
However, it could be a fun experiment for the next few days and could end up producing a useful font.
So, is this a fontmaking project for which several readers of this forum might like to have a go? Comments are welcome.
