i downloaded a font from the website and apparently it's supposed to be truetype.

The file name also ends in .ttf

However, when i opened it up I found the em-size to be set to 1000 (instead of 2048 like all my other truetype fonts).

does this mean it is fake and not genuine?

Not at all. It just means that it was probably originally designed for the MAC.

The default funits/em value in FontCreator is 2048, but you can select other values. Larger values allow for fine details, but increase file size and make font rendering slower. Unless the font is very complex, it is unlikely you will notice on a modern PC.

Values that are multiple of 2 are easier for binary computers to process.

thanks for reply.

I have both a Windows and Mac computer.

However this font file only seems to work on my Windows pc. It won't even run on the Mac no matter what I try (error messages, etc.)
