Failure to install font: missing CLSID key

Post by gbjedi »

Just purchased and installed Scanahand on my Windows 7 PC.
When I tried to install my first font, I got this message:
"Could not install font 'Jeremy'. Reason: The activation requires a display name to be present under the CLSID key."
Is there a soution to this?

Two options:

1) Install FontCreator 6.0.5, as it includes a more recent version of the dll that seems to cause the problem.
http://www.high-logic.com/fontcreator/F ... .5.126.exe

2) A workaround is to save the font, and then install it through Windows explorer. Just locate and select the font file, then right-click the font file and select Install from the menu.

The first option doesn't work. FontCreator still requires a CLSID key.

It is an issue when running Windows x64. We will release a new version of FontCreator that solves the issue tomorrow.

I just upgraded to Windows 8 from Windows 7. I tried to install some of my fonts and I got a refusal saying that I am needing a CLSID key. I tried to look for an upgrade but the reply was that my version of Font Creator is already updated. My version is 6.5 build 270.
Kindly advice.

Addendum:
Till yesterday my Font Creator was running under Windows 7 64 bit with no problems. Now it's running on the same laptop but with Windows 8 Pro 64 bit.
Cheers
