I'm trying to import a 1 MB jpg file into FCP, and I keep getting an error.
Something about not enough space?
There's 17 GB free on the drive, I've got 2 GB of RAM..
Edit : resized image (50% of original) will import fine.
Is this a bug, or is there a size limit to the file you're importing?
Import image -> error message

It is not a bug, FontCreator tried to request a large amount of memory, and for some reason your operating system failed to give it.
I suspect the actual image is pretty large. In order to use the heavily compressed jpg, FontCreator has to convert it to real pixels. A 1 MB jpg might require 100 MB or more of RAM and that can be too much for your system. Try to close other software to free some memory, or as you've already done use a smaller image.
