How to create a 1x2mm Glyph? (How to calculate the points)
Hello, I need to create a font which can be print from a word doc. The requirement is when the font size is 12, the print size of a glyph (a black rectangle) is 1 millimeter width and 2 millimeter height. So my question is, how to calculate the points when I design the glyph? It seems I also need to modify some values in Format->Settings window, right?

I would suggest an empirical approach
Just create your rectangular glyph at an abitrary size. Install the font, and print it from Word at 120 points. Measure the result, and scale it down or up as appropriate. Font creator allows very precise measurements using guidelines or node co-ordinates.
This way you won't have to alter any settings or do any complex calculations.

Bhikkhu, thank you for the useful link.
According to the Erwin's thread:
pointSize * resolution / ( 72 points per inch * units_per_em )
and 550 * 18 * 72 / ( 72 * 2048 ) = 4.83
Can you explain the meaning of the each items:
1.)18 is the font size using in windows program, e.g. Word or notepad, right? Why should I multiply 18 with 550? Is 550 the width of glyph in font creator program?
2.)How can I know the resolution of output device? Different printers have different resolutions, isn't it?
3.)72 points per inch
4.)The result is 4.83, where to use this result?
