When trying to copy characters into font creator from many programs it copies the files and objects in the wrong shape but in many programs it simply won't copy the characters at all. Has anyone font a solution to this issue?

You will have to be more specific. What kind of objects are you trying to copy and paste into FontCreator and from which program?

I am trying to make rhinestone true type fonts to be cut using sticky flock material. When I copy from Corel Draw it does not copy correctly. I used to be able to get it to copy into the program correctly using a program called Stone Cut Pro. I no longer have Stone Cut pro so I am trying to copy into it using some other program but the ones I have tried are not working. It won't copy the image into the font creator at all. When I copy from a program like Great Cuts which is another cutting software thee font creator program simply won't let us paste the object into it.

I only have CorelDraw 9.0 here, but I have no problem copying curves to FontCreator, as long as the outline is thick enough. One mm is fine, but a hairline doesn't work.

I have a box drawn around it and when I when I copy into from Corel it copies it into the font creator it shows the circles but the box does not show up. I have combined a character in the box and gotten it all to show up but then when I export it as a true type font the circles that would be the rhinestones come out oblong and not perfect circles. Do you think this problem would be solved by thickening the lines off the circles?

Have you tried publishing to PDF and dropping the PDF into FontCreator?

If the circles are very small, there may not be enough nodes to create a near-perfect circle. The only solution to that is to increase the funits/em setting from 2048 to 4096 or 8192 for extremely finely detailed fonts. Very fine detail will not be seen at normal print sizes, only if enlarged to 72 point or beyond on posters.

For a nearly perfect circle, the best is what you get if you use the ellipse tool — a circle with four on-curve nodes and eight off-curve nodes. Eight points is not enough and sixteen is more than necessary.

I'm not seeing where to change that setting in either program. Could you point me in the right direction please?

Maybe I missed it, but what version of CD are you using? Would you upload a zipped copy of the CD file?

The funits/em setting is in FontCreator: Font Properties, General. Select a size from the drop list.

Changing the funits/em setting will change the size of all existing glyphs. Select all, copy, change the units, then paste. All composite glyphs will be made simple too, so use Complete Composites afterwards.

Tag all Composite Glyphs before, select all tagged glyphs after, then Complete Composites. (Available only in the Standard or Pro Editions)

Automatic hinting will need to be added again on export if you require hinting — you won't be able to use the original hinting. That is found in Export Settings.

Recalculate the metrics after changing the funits/em setting.

The import vector settings from the Options dialog might help. That is if you are importing them.
