Why are some Glyphs Red in the Open Type Designer?

Post by PJMiller »

When viewing glyphs in Open Type Designer some of them appear black and some appear red, what is the difference?

What criterion decides the colour of the characters in Open Type Designer?

A screen shot might help. I don't remember noticing this before.

When they are red they are glyph classes.

That explains why I never noticed this before. Nearly all of my kerning pairs are both kerning classes. In this screen shot, the digits are glyphs while the inch marks (") are in a kerning class along with foot marks (').
