Export: Use Current Glyph Names fails (sometimes)

Post by ClintGoss » Wed Jan 31, 2018 5:00 pm

When I export a .TTF font with the Font Export Settings => TrueType/OpenType => Glyph Names field set to "Use current glyph names", the exported glyph names are mostly mine, but some have been modified. I can't find a pattern, so I am including the full list...

Just looking at glyphs at the beginning of a block, these glyphs are modified (Block starting from ... renamed glyph):

1D00 a.smcp
0100 Amacron
2190 arrowleft
0180 bstroke
1F300 cyclone
0020 exclam
FB00 ff
25A0 filledbox
0300 gravecomb
1F600 grinning face
12B0 h.sups
00A0 nbspace
1F650 northwestpointingleaf
2460 one.nalt
2150 oneseventh
1F680 rocket
2200 universal
2070 zero.sups

... all other glyphs are left unaffected.

Any ideas?

I found the problem ... it is not a problem with FontCreator (sorry!). However, I am leaving this post, in case someone appears to have a similar issue.

My problems was that I was examining the exported .TTF file in FontCreator itself. I had never changed the:

Options => Generate friendly glyph names (recommended)

setting, which is On by default. It was overriding those glyph names that I had identified. Turning that option off solved the issue.

You almost had me ;-)

Thank you for letting us know. I understand this can be misleading, so I'm glad you discovered the cause of the issue.
