Composite glyph location not equal to parent glyph

Post by Fonts »

I have some composite glyphs ... some of the capitals in the Greek alphabet.
The shape is the same as the parent glyph, all good here.
But the location is not the same. The Left and Right bearings specifically. Why does this occur?
Note: I have made modifications to the parent glyph after pasting as a composite.

Make the composite glyph simple, then compose it again.

There is not a problem if you only change the glyph contours, but changing the bearings will affect composites that use that base glyph.

Improve your workflow. Finish all editing of base glyphs and accents, then update the composites. You can do this in bulk by displaying all composites from the Edit menu, than Tag them, make them simple, display the tagged glyphs, and complete composites.

Note that letters like Ç and ç should also be regenerated after editing the base glyphs to ensure consistent design.

Please just state that it's not possible.
Making suggestions as to improve workflow is not constructive. The issue is that I may come back to the work at a much later stage and overlook updating ... as intuitively you would expect the software to take this into account.
Sorry to be critical ... I think the software is reasonable, and the forum support responses are relatively quick ... but in my view it's better to just state the shortcomings.
Other, more sophisticated software also have issues as well.

Do let us know which glyphs so we better understand the issue.
