How to Remove Gaps Between Glyphs?

Post by dangdongho3 » Fri Jun 15, 2018 7:48 am

I tried to modify a glyph of built-in font; arabtype.ttf.

I reduced the advance width by shrinking the glyph and keep LSB, RSB constant. It's seen س letter of medial form.

I tested it with 5 different preceeding letters, so they showed incorrect contextual join; all joins are gapped. How to solve this kind of problem?

I do really need your help, many thanks in advance...

You probably need to reduce the LSB to be negative.

Use the Comparison Toolbar in the Glyph Edit Window, pasting the preceding glyphs to the Before position, then see how it looks in the glyph edit window for the medial glyph.

I don't read Arabic, so I show an example for lowercase "j" which has a negative left side-bearing.
