Resizing whole Font

Post by avalonsutra » Sun Dec 15, 2019 12:49 pm

Hi,

I'm currently trialing FontCreator as I was looking for a tool that can among other things change the default size of a font.
I know about using Tools/Glyph Transformer/Scale. If I do this by e.g. setting the new size to 175% the glyphs are scaled up but they will extend the boundaries of their space.

I'm not font creation expert but wnat do I have to do so that each character's "bounding box" is scaled, too so that the h/v space between letters increases relative to the new glyph scaling?

Where in FC do I find these settings ...

> Format, Settings, Header, and set funits/em to 1843 (assuming it is now 2048)

?

Now that setting is found in Font, Properties (shortcut Alt+Enter), General, Layout.

Thanks Bhikkhu Pesala! Found it!

However even if I follow those steps my fonts will be cut off on top and bottom when testing. I'm wondering if in my case it's enough to only change the em value to that equal of another font where I know the size is what I need.

Whatever you do, the glyphs have to fit between WinAscent and WinDescent or they will be cut off.

All one can do is increase the x-height and Cap Height so that the glyphs take up a greater percentage of the point size.
