I have a font with the metrics shown below.
If I change the upper and lower bound values as follows:
2400 to 2450 &
-800 to -750
The row height in Excel increases. I have a large number of rows and need to keep the row height as low as possible.
Since the difference between upper and lower is the same, why does this happen?

Re: Font metrics - with respect to Row Height in Excel
The baseline will be lower if you change those metrics like that. Try using fixed line height in Excel.
Re: Font metrics - with respect to Row Height in Excel
I cannot change the height in Excel as my glyphs use all of the space.
Can you advise the root cause of the issue.
You suggest the baseline is moved ... but so is the top metric, the difference is the same.
Can you please explain in more detail.

Re: Font metrics - with respect to Row Height in Excel
I don't have Excel to test. In my tables, using a fixed line height reduces the minimum row height.
Re: Font metrics - with respect to Row Height in Excel
OK thanks. But can you please explain the fundamentals so we can understand.

OK thanks for sending the link, it is informative, unfortunately not specific enough with respect to Excel.
I guess that's all you can do.
Cheers.
