Alternative character in Colour

Post by akashif »

Hi,

I am using FontCreator 13, and having a problem with Alternative character in color,

I have designed some Alternative character in standard black as well as in some colors, (Arabic character),

but when I try to use those, the colored alternate appears as Black, (when viewed in Browser or any other software like Adobe illustrator)

any advice will be helpful.

Thank you
Ali

What color format did you select on exporting the font?

Most browsers now support color font technology. The Web Font test in FontCreator will open a test page in your default browser.

Not all applications support color fonts, but Adobe Illustrator should. I do not have it to test.

Try with my free Odana multi-coloured font.

Those settings look fine. What characters have color but fail to show?

Adobe Illustrator does not support OpenType COLR. You need to export with the SVG color format. This tutorial explains it:

hi,

I tried to export the font using your instructions and exported it with SVG Color format and it worked in Adobe illustrator, but not working in Browser.

so I exported the font again with color = "Both COLOR and SVG", see the attached image.

and it works in Adobe illustrator but not in Browser. (Google Chrome)

so what should I do to make it run in the browser as well

Thank you
Ali

My Chrome browser shows such dual color fonts, so I don't know why it fails on your side.
