But when I try to import it into Font Creator, I get the lines fading out:

I see the same issue. Try exporting to PDF instead of SVG if your drawing program supports it.
I used Serif DrawPlus X8 to generate the attached PDF file.

This is a bug that we will fix with the next major release.
For now the only work-around is to resize the SVG in your vector editing software

Thanks to you both. What I needed to do was to expand stokes in the original program (Affinity Designer), as well as scale up the glyph 6x.
Now it works perfectly!
