Unembed corrupt fonts in Illustrator file - urgent help need

Some fonts seem to be corrupt and my Illustrator files don't want to save. A huge amount of work has gone into these files and I need to unembed the offending fonts and clean out the fonts from windows. Can anyone tell me how to do this?
