LibreOffice 5.3 comes with a new cross-platform text layout engine

Post by Erwin Denissen »

The new cross-platform text layout engine uses HarfBuzz for consistent text layout on all platforms, so OpenType layout features are now supported on all platforms, and default OpenType features are enabled for all languages.

Note for all font designers: since Firefox also uses HarfBuzz, it is more convenient to first test your fonts through FontCreator's Test WOFF feature.

Thanks, Erwin. That's good to know. :)

I guess it's time to update my copy of LibreOffice!

Using the OpenType features is not very user-friendly.

I updated my review page with some tips to get users started.
