There are a couple that likely could have formed the basis behind the logo.

But it would have been altered from the font.

Called Tele-Marines Bold from Iconian. Picture is uppercase on first line, lower case on second.

Yes, very easily! WhatTheFont.com finds it with no trouble at all if you identify the glyphs as lower case, but it fails otherwise.
