Keyboard Shortcut for File/Export Settings

Post by jedbadda »

I am perplexed why there is no keyboard shortcut for File/Export Settings, as it is something I am constantly opening and have to check every time I export a font.

It would be EXTREMELY helpful to have a keyboard shortcut for this and would save so much time.

Do let us know which shortcut you suggest and we'll consider it for a future release.

Alt+F, E works pretty well.

Ctrl+Shift+S might be suitable and does not seem to be in use.

Keyboard Shortcuts

If the keyboard shortcuts could be made customisable it would enable users to assigned whatever they wish — whatever best suits their workflow.

That is true!

Shift+Ctrl+S is in use by Save All

We've looked into this, but it was not feasible.

So it is, but it's not listed in Help.

Is [Ctrl + E] taken?

How about Ctrl + D? That's a good one.

Ctrl + E would be a lot better, but that would require a change of the shortcut for Paste Special to Ctrl + Shift + V. Although that makes better logical sense, changing shortcuts is risky as it may annoy any users who frequently use Paste Special.

Is there a reason why there are two different shortcuts for Paste Special? I just noticed there is Ctrl + Alt + V (the most intuitive) for 'working in the Font Overview window' and Ctrl + E for general. Can't it be the same for both?

Interesting. Ctrl + E does nothing for me, perhaps it is a legacy shortcut that was replaced with Ctrl + Alt + V then not removed from Help.

If so, then Ctrl + E would be great for Export Settings.

Yes, it looks like it was some legacy in the manual. In the next upcoming release Ctrl + E will be used to show the Export Settings dialog.
