[NO BUG] Open Type Tables after exporting TT font

I currently use Microsoft VOLT for adding OpenType features to Hebrew fonts.
In this procedure I use Font Creator to develop TrueType fonts as far as possible
without any OpenType features.

a) I took an old (pre-V7) font file and opened with VOLT and received the message:
"This will replace all current VOLT data. Are you sure you want to continue?"
This mild message always appears even if there is no VOLT data.

b) I open such a file with FC7 and then exported it as a .ttf.
Next I opened it with VOLT and received the message:
"This font already contains OTL tables. They will be overwritten by VOLT. Is
this OK?"

My question is what OTL tables are in such a font? What is being overwritten and
how can it be restored?

After using VOLT to generate OTL tables for Hebrew, I intend to use FC7 to add more
OpenType features for the Latin component of the font.

What export setting are you using? The default.otlfd script will be used by default and some features such as liga will be added. Use the Font Properties Extension to check which features the font contains.

You could extract the features from this font then add more features to the script. I suspect that you cannot add more tables to a font, without adding the original features again, but I don't really know. The export options allow for None, Default, or Custom.

Thanks for telling me about the Font Properties Extension - how could I have
lived so long without it?
The file saved by FC6 has "No OpenType Layout table (GSUB,GPOS) found in font."
Yhe file saved by FC7 has:
"----OpenType Layout Tables
---- Latin [latn] Script
-----Default Language System
The above shows supported Scripts, Language Systems and
Features in GSUB and/or GPOS OpenType tables."

Looking at this font in FC7 and opening the OpenType Layout Feature Editor
I see the script latn and the feature liga which is empty.
This does seem innocuous. You have draw my attention to the Export Setting
and I could set 'Include OpenType Features' to NO.
