The "Modified" date of a font

Post by William »

I noticed something whilst preparing to experiment with the typeface.js converter as mentioned in the following thread.

viewtopic.php?f=16&t=2477

I got as far as the following in the transcript.

quote

Friday 21 November 2008

8:17 am

Start FontCreator 5.6.

Open CHRONTXT.TTF Chronicle Text Version 0.26 of 10 September 2005.

Save As CHRONEX1.TTF.

Note that the Format Settings... Header page now states the date modified as 21 November 2008.

Try the converter at the http://typeface.neocracy.org/fonts.html web page.

end quote

The http://typeface.neocracy.org/fonts.html web page then became unavailable so I am making this post.

My thinking was that I would start with CHRONEX1.TTF as a direct copy of CHRONTXT.TTF and try that in the converter and if it does not work then try altering the Embedding flags and having another attempt with the converter until (hopefully) it does work.

Yet I noticed that CHRONEX1.TTF now has the date modified as 21 November 2008 even though I had not altered the font.

Is that because the original font was made with FontCreator 5.0 and now I am using FontCreator 5.6?

You might want to uncheck "Update Modified DateTime field".
