Open Type Fonts

Post by Steve C. »

Can any one tell me more about the new Open Type Fonts?

I can't copy the files on disk or send it by email. Are they intentionally designs this way? In what ways are they different from True Type Fonts?

Welcome Steve C.

I haven't had problems dealing with Open Type fonts (copying and moving them around on my desktop) under XP or ME. I've not tried to email them. Intuitively I wouldn't expect to have a problem there either.

My limited understanding of Open Types is that Apple and Microsoft agree on the Open Type specs and fonts can have 65536 glyphs.

Good luck in solving your problem.

If you'd like I'd send you some standard MS Open Type font (I guess that's legal in the interest of science?).

Dick
