HOT KEYS

Post by Dave Crosby »

I just discovered that the H key - Hide can be "Locked Down."
Of course you can always turn the grid and guide lines off in the VIEW selection.

First select a point [or block of points]
Second simultaneously hold down the control key and the H key and use any of the arrow keys to move it one space.

Now you can release the keys and see only the glyph as you continue to move the point or points.
Although the glyph points are also hidden, you can move the cursor along the outline and "discover" and select other points, or "box" groups and move them as you wish. As explained below, Q and W keys also move you from one point to another.
Press the H key again to return to normal.

A HOT KEY TUTORIAL would be a good thing. All I know so far is that:

A adds a point
F changes it to an off-point
G adds guide lines
H temporarily Hides the grid, guide lines and points
N changes them to on-points.

I have a perfect memory, but it is real short. I know Bhikkhu has mentioned others, but ... umm... What were they?

Do you have anything to add to this list?

• F1 is quite useful :) but Irwin is still working on the help file.

• Then there's Alter Right, Alter Left, and Alter Enter.

• Plus and Minus on the numeric keyboard. These are useful in overview too.

• Then there is P in overview. You need to have the Preview toolbar open to see the effect of this.

• Control F (Find) is handy for locating glyphs.

• Control T inverts the selection of nodes or glyphs.

• I like the Control H behaviour. I suspect it's deliberate. You can select nodes whether you can see them or not — see the status bar for the results.

• Last but not least, there's Control S. Never forget that one, or you will be
