Glyph Names for export

In the Font Export Settings dialog box, on the TrueType/OpenType tab, if the "Glyph Names" is set to "Regenerate for release", are the mappings in the FontCreator file glyphnames.dat used? Or is there some other approach / algorithm that is used on export?

I'm thinking that glyphnames.dat might only be designed for import or use of the Generate Glyph Names function on the Glyph Properties dialog box.

Also, wondering if there is a version of glyphnames.dat floating around that matches the AGLFN (Adobe's specification)?

See this Help Topic

Glyphnames.dat is used to generate glyph names. If you modify them in your project file to make them more user-friendly, you can set the Export option to regenerate them (from glyphnames.dat) on export, or you can keep the user-friendly names, or omit the names to reduce the file size.

Thank you!

So, just to confirm, glyphname.dat is used both for the Generate Glyph Names function and for Regenerate for Release on a font export?
