This update contains support for Unicode variation sequences, last resort fonts *, and single stroke fonts **.
Due to a change in the font project data, the new projects will not be backwards compatible.
You can download our font editor from here:
Download FontCreator
* last resort fonts are only supported by Mac and web browsers.
** As you all know, open contours are not allowed in fonts, so FontCreator will do some magic so generated fonts look like single line fonts.
Some basic steps to get you started with open contours:
1) Enable the new Open Contours feature through the Options dialog (Font tab)
2) Set Open Contours on the Export dialog to Double Stroke
This will allow you to see the open contours. You can then open a contour by right-clicking a contour in the glyph edit window, then select "Toggle Open Contour".
This Open Contour feature is not useful for most users; probably will confuse them more than it will help others, so that is why it is hidden by default.
This test project shows such open contours:
Here is the font, exported as single stroke, and as double stroke:
The double stroke font will be compatible with most engraving software, so it is recommended to use this one. However if the single stroke font works, then it is best to use it, as it is more efficient.
We are looking forward to your findings, e.g. is this a good way to design single stroke fonts, and do they actually work with your engraving cnc software/ hardware?

Re: Single Stroke / Single Line / CNC Font Support
The latest version is now available for download.
I have no need for the new features so nothing much to say about them.
