OpenType SVG Color Fonts

We are about to release FontCreator 13 coming with OpenType color font improvements.

FontCreator was the first commercial font editor to support color fonts back in 2013. The specific color font extension was initiated by Microsoft, using internal tables COLR and CPAL.

There is one other scalable color extension, initially proposed by Mozilla and Adobe. That extension uses scalable vector graphics (SVG) documents in an SVG table (optionally along with a CPAL table), and FontCreator 13 supports that too.

Within FontCreator you can define what color format to include in your fonts. There is no visual SVG editor in FontCreator, but it can generate the SVG color format out of the COLR extension.

Let us know if you want to give it a try, and we will send you a link to the latest beta of FontCreator 13.
