Dropout control?

Hi,
I created a relatively thin font. On a CRT, with Windows NT, it looks relatively good with grayscale option. When I switch off the gray scale, there are a lot of drop outs. Printed with 600 dpi, it looks fine.
When I display it on a Flatscreen, Windows XP home, there are a lot of drop outs, even when I switched on the font smoothing.
I read, there is an option of global hint called drop out control. Can I switch on drop out control in any way? How could I do it?
