A thread for experimenting with attachments

Post by William »

Now that the forum allows attachments I thought that a thread for experimenting with attachments would be a good idea.

I noticed that Bhikkhu Pesala suggested in the viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2483 to use a png file so that is what I have done.

Here is my transcript.

----

Tuesday 18 November 2008

3:31 pm

Try to make an attachment for a thread in the High-Logic forum.

Start WordPad.

Use the Quest text font at 72 point using blue.

Key the following text, using Alt 64262 to produce an st ligature and Alt 59143 to produce a ct ligature, (the code here used for the ct ligature being a Private Use Area code used in the Quest text font and not a standard for a ct ligature, though people may use the code when making a font if they so choose).

An astrolabe actually!

Use Print Screen and paste into Microsoft Paint.

Copy a section from the middle onto the clipboard.

Close Paint.

Start Paint.

Paste from the clipboard.

Save as a png file.

----

Now try to upload the file to the forum.

OK Let's try SVG and see if that works.

The extension SVG is not allowed.

Let's try 7-Zip

Well, how about a font?

Hmm, I tried to add POETRY.TTF with the following message.

Poetry font version 0.241

The system replied with the following, in maroon lettering!

The extension ttf is not allowed.

Following Erwin's post in the viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2483 thread at 18:49, probably just after my experiment, I will try again!

At 19:33 the message displayed is as follows.

The extension ttf is not allowed.

All popular font file extensions should now be allowed.

The attachment is a pdf slideshow and it runs in full-screen mode if allowed to do so.

Adobe Reader may well mention that some such publications request personal information.

This publication is one which I produced earlier this morning specifically to add to this forum thread. This pdf slideshow simply cycles through four page displays and is intended primarily to test what happens when a pdf slideshow is viewed direct from a forum page.
