creating anchor class

Post by hassan »

Hi:

How can I create anchor classes or families as shown in here:

Image

when I add one I does not connect to desired anchor

I want to assign one mark for both letters in a ligature as this:

I think you will find that when you have placed the new anchors in the selected glyphs they will not 'connect' until you open the Open Type Designer and edit the positions of the anchors, then when you close Open Type Designer you will find that they have 'connected' as if by magic. :D

I think it is better to give the anchors descriptive names, it helps me remember what they are for.

s fa as my knowledge; you can not assign different mark for each letter in multiple letter glyph, so there should be a anchor families as shown here:

so you can place one anchor and assign a mark to it and you can change the position of this anchor and automatically all sub-anchors will reposition accordingly.

The order of the anchor and its sub-anchors will appear in OTD as:

How can I do the same?

I found the solution:

After you create the ligature you should make marktoligature lookup not marktobase, then Fontcreator will automatically create mark anchor for each letter.

The information in the user manual is not easy to find, but the number of anchor values used with Mark‑to‑Ligature lookups can be set through the Glyph Properties. See:

Thanks for your help.

But the other mark anchors (the gray one) didn't appear in OTD so I could change their position :!:

It seems you know how to make it work, so let us know if you have suggestions to improve the manual.

Also note that we've made many improvements related to anchors within FontCreator 13.
