did you have experience with this,
i just wondering, that some on other application not work if i change with not standard.
what i see in most font like abcdinamo mostly cousing 1000 upem, while other using 1000/1024/2048/4096. what i can understand is they calculated based 1024. but my font using 3072 actually, i need to lower this to going standard to 2048. but when i change that, the line gap are dont have space it will be clipped. are it is no problem with 3072 value? idk are that possible to change based on what is fit not calculate based 1024/1000?. because some my fonts are not really good space optically when calculate based thos value (1024/1000)
also, i think when the values upem changed, the letter will reduce. i mean you can compare & try after u using large upem with other font using upem standard. are this will affect negative?
credit: abcdinamo (on fontgautlet ) values mostly 1000 upem, angsana new (font) values 4096 upem,
upem

Re: upem
- 1000 upem is an old Mac standard.
- 2048 upem is good enough for most fonts
- 4096 or 8192 can be used if a font has fine details, like my Odana font below.
- Processing multiples of two are faster than other numbers
- Changing the upem of an existing font will change the glyph sizes
Re: upem
i was try on your tricks. the line height not even have spacing.
you can see it, when the upem change the more leading. i don't use 4096 because im afraid later, people not will buy because the leading are too far. so, i use 3072. are this recommended?
i need use 2048, but actually the leading are clipped. so i dont have a option. i can give you a sample, so, i would this solve my problems

Re: upem
upem has nothing to do with line height or default line-spacing.
People who buy fonts don't even look at the upem setting.
