Mark spacing

Post by raitoringo »

Hello.

I would like to know how to make my back glyphs respect the normal spacing of a mark. I have a ligature+mark(medial form)+base or ligature. As you can see, my last glyph occupies the space of the mark. Is there a solution?

Thanks

Well, non-spacing marks have no advance width. You can add such width through single (contextual) kerning. If I am correct that is also how other professional font designers solve these issues.

Ok, I fixed the problem. Now I have another. When I test my font, nothing works. On the web there are also errors, but some parts work.

Not all shaping engines support all OpenType layout features, so better test in a web page, Microsoft Word, and Adobe Indesign.
