I got a new computer and have 4500 or so fonts that I need to reinstall. I wanted to go into MainType, select them in my various groups, and install them all at once.
When I selected them all and hit the install button, it wouldn't do anything, when I would select individual fonts, it would install them. I finally figured out that there are certain fonts that MainType isn't recognizing and having them selected with the rest would keep the group from being installed. The problem is, there are a large amount of fonts not being recognized and it makes the process of installing through MainType worthless as I have to go through and select individual and small groups of fonts in order to install and it will take ages. Plus, I won't be able to use any of those unrecognized fonts within MainType.
I've included a screenshot of what it looks like in MainType (open dot with no font preview) along with the folder showing the font does exist on my computer. All of my fonts are in the same folder on my computer. I *have* synced that folder.
Any idea why this is happening or how to fix? Thanks for your help!

Re: MainType not recognizing fonts/won't install
It seems there was an issue with storing font information into the database, and it is most likely corrupted. We will try to locate the cause, to prevent this from happening in the future.
Maybe a reboot fixes the issue, otherwise a full uninstall of MainType and then a reinstall of MainType is required.

I'm having a similar problem. Nothing I do installs fonts in MT any longer, not directly. I can't add them to the dropbox/folder and then synch; nada. I can't add a "new folder" to MT and then add the fonts...it's as though they just don't exist. The only method that even partly works is for me to open up the font file either in Windows font viewer and install the font from there (and that's sketchy), and then it will display inside of MT, or to open it in FC, install it from inside there, and then lather-rinse-repeat. But even the installs from inside FC have been flakey and not reliable.Erwin Denissen wrote: ↑Mon Oct 09, 2023 7:39 pm It seems there was an issue with storing font information into the database, and it is most likely corrupted. Is the best or most reliable option to uninstall MT and then reinstall it, resynch? I have 12K fonts, all in, under I-don't-remember how many faces. I'll do this if that's what it takes...?

Are there any error reports in this folder?
C:\ProgramData\High-Logic\Errors

No, nothing. The last files or indications in there are from June of this year. A .dat file and a .prd file.Erwin Denissen wrote: ↑Sun Sep 29, 2024 8:35 am Are there any error reports in this folder?

Re: MainType not recognizing fonts/won't install
To further look into this, I ask you to force a crash within the font service, which will generate a stack trace of the current state of the software.
To let the font service crash, do add a new group with this specific name:
Crash2019
After you've done it, the group won't be added, and the font service needs to be restarted (through FmsConfig).
You will find the error report in this folder:
C:\ProgramData\High-Logic\Errors
Looking forward to the results.
