IS it correct that the filter decides what fonts to PREVIEW? So when I've used the flilter to search for a font in the browse pain. This filter is still active when I hit lets say the aftive tab. Resulting it only shows the fonts assigned in the filter

Yes, that is correct. The filter is used globally.
