Might anyone know a handy way to insert a large block of glyphs, giving both their glyph names and code points? Both Insert Glyphs and Insert Characters perform half of that ...

The setting is a large set of alternate glyphs that will be accessible both from an OpenType feature and (for Microsoft Word) thorough code points in the High S-PUA. The glyph names are needed for OT Designer to work its magic ...

Private Use Area glyphs have no assigned glyph names other than uF000 etc.

The way around that is to insert by both methods and copy the glyph names of the block to the block with code-points or vice versa. Then delete the unwanted empty glyphs.

Thank you Bhikkhu ...

One challenge is that the glyph names are things like a.smcp (for example) ... not glyph names that are standard to a particular code point.
Can I cut-paste glyph names from a text list somehow?

.. oh ... wait ... I get it.

Add characters by code point, ...
then add glyphs by glyph name (e.g. from a text list), ...
then copy the glyph names to the code points.

That should do it!

Thanks!

You can enter the glyph names in the insert glyphs dialog.
