Main Type suddenly freezing up constantly

Recently, Main Type started freezing up constantly. I can't scroll through any folders, it hangs up every few seconds, and while it doesn't crash, it's almost unusable if I have to wait several seconds to scroll through a couple fonts and then it does it again. I only have 2900 fonts, 597 installed. I have 20 gigs of RAM, and a 2T SSD drive that is about half full, (plus a separate drive where all my programs are installed.) I'm on Windows 7 Ultimate.
