I am new with the FontCreator and with font creation… I just try developing fonts for my language which is visually similar to Chinese fonts, but displays as the Latins. Left to right, but with only a character that goes the other way. When I test the fonts which I created, both in FontCreator and Microsoft Word, I see that the horizontal contours are missing or are not in proportion to the other contours. I tried searching and reading whatever I can and applying them again and again, but I am not sure what’s wrong with my fonts. Please help!
I am attaching an image of the fonts from the FontCreator Test tool as an attachment.
I am not able to see what is wrong with the font as I don’t know what is missing.
Are the horizontal lines still missing if you increase the font size in the sample window to 72 points? If so, its probably because the font lacks hinting information.
Attaching Screen Shots
Crop the image to show just what is relevant, and save it as a PNG — it will be much sharper as well as smaller than JPG for images of text.
thanks for replying!
I am attaching the images as a png format as you suggested.
I have tested the font in 72pts but the horizontal lines are not missing.
Yes, it looks like a problem caused by lack of hinting.
See the advice in this thread about enabling font smoothing. Making the horizontal lines thicker may be the easiest solution.
