A chromatic font

“chromatic.pdf” is my attempt to use colour to show the different surfaces of a three-dimensional shape: a carved letter.

There are at least three ways to make a multi-coloured font:

(1) use a format that supports colours;

(2) use layering; and

(3) use glyphs that have an advance width of zero.

I have chosen the last.

Since it did not occur to me that this was possible until I saw something similar elsewhere, I thought I should share it.

That is excellent.

Thank you for sharing.

That’s a clever idea. I’m particularly interested to see this, since I recently used the carved letters of the Painter Umesh font from HandPaintedType.com when experimenting with coloured fonts in FC7.5.
