Hi,
I just downloaded a special handwriting-font which did not feature German special characters. However, I managed to create the missing glyphs myself by copying the characters and addig the extra dots.
The resulting font works just fine in Word. But it does not work in InDesign - The characters are missing, a very small empty space appears instead. What am I doing wrong?
Best regards, Gregor
PS. The font I created is available here:

There doesn’t seem to be anything obviously wrong with the font.
Take a look at this earlier thread on deleting the font cache.
If you’re still using version 5.0 of FontCreator, I recommend a free upgrade to version 5.6
It helps to use composites for accented glyphs. Less work, more consistent design, and smaller file size. Copy your ä to the ¨ glyph and delete the a, then copy the a + ¨ from the glyph overview, open the glyph edit Window for ä and paste the clipboard contents to create a composite glyph. Finally, adjust the umlaut position.
Or, just use Complete Composites if you’re using the Professional Edition.
Complete Composites Tutorial
If you’re a perfectionist, you may like to join the two contours that make up the German ß. It will make it easier to get a smooth curve.
Thanks!
The Composites-clue helped! I don’t know exactly why, but all characters appear correct now in InDesign.

Gregor
