Would there be some way to add a feature that could let a font tell a key to convert one glyph into another glyph? For example, imagine having a font tell the word processor that putting an apostrophe after an s would automatically convert it into a ß. (s’ = ß) Or one could put an h after a t to automatically convert “th” into an Old English “eth” glyph.
This feature could allow keys such as ‘, -, or [ to be used effectively as auxiliary shift keys, and this would be quite useful for creating keyboard-ready syllabaries. In my estimation, one could even use this feature to create a Mayan script that one could type in almost entirely with a keyboard.
Thanks.
