Have had this issue since I installed MainType 11. Some days before I had installed Windows 11.
In Windows fonts folder it looks ok… except for the Arial narrow that is not there:
In the Settings font admin it looks like this:
In MainType “Active fonts” it looks like this:
It is not possible to uninstall the duplicates in any of the folders/places???
Hi again… managed to erase the duplicates for; italic, bold, bold italic… but not for “normal” regular??
Did this by searching for duplicates and erase the duplicates…
So now looks like this in MainType:
Any suggestion what to try for erase the duplicates for Arial Normal “regular” ??
It is not easy but certainly not impossible to install several fonts with the same name, but this is of course unwanted as you won’t know which one is going to be used.
Maybe the Registry Fixer within MainType can fix this?
I checked in “regedit” windows and there are two (2) arial registered. I don’t know what it is if one is the narrow??? and the other the whole family?
Do you think it can be a good idea to erase both with regedit and make a new install??
Maybe you can delete them through Windows Fonts folder.
Otherwise I will look into this within a couple of days. There are currently no issues related to FontCreator, except for the lack of an up-to-date manual, so I intend to focus on a minor update of MainType soon.
I can not erase from the windows fonts folder and in this folder there is only one “arial normal”. In the “settings” and font managing section I can see the 3 versions of “arial normal” but they can not be erased from here.
The only way I can erase the fonts would be through the “regdit” but I’m worried how it would affect the os and softwares that are in use of arial…?
