ascender and descender question

I am currently creating a font of my handwriting. I have been able to set the right and left boundaries so that the letters connect in cursive, and I noticed that areas outside these boundaries are not cut off, as they are with the vertical boundaries. Is there a way to set the vertical boundaries so that the lines overlap? I want to be able to type so that, for an example, the descender of a g and the ascender of an h can use the same space, overlapping without cutting off a piece of either character. Any suggestions?
Thanks

Just do Format, Settings, Metrics, Maximum, Calculate, to move the Ascender and Descender lines outside of all the glyphs, then they won’t be cut off.

If ascenders and descenders need to overlap when using the font, you must set the line spacing to less than 1 in your word-processor. There is no other way that I know off.
