How do I assign a keystroke combination to a glyph. I created a font that has some special characters. I’d like to assign them to keystrokes so I can use them in any program, Word, excel, note pad, word perfect, etc alt+, could be one of the characters. I’m using Font Creator 5.6 - Build 80
thx
This is not something you can do in FontCreator. Keyboard mapping is either something to do in Word or in Windows, by using the keyboard layout creator.
See my Custom Keyboard that I use for typing accented characters: ā ī ū etc.
For Windows, you can use the Microsoft Keyboard Layout Creator (free! @ microsoft.com) to make a new layout that allows you to access any character through dead keys (two key combination) or AltGr (the right Alt key or Alt+Control). I am currently working on a keyboard layout that allows me to type in several different scripts: अ, б, ξ, ཀ, א, ᚠ, ᠭ, Ꭳ, ᚘ, Թ, ぷ, ⡺, 延; as well as all sorts of accented and variant Latin letters: ǥ, Å, ṁ, ɤ, ɝ, ⱦ, ẹ, ş, ý, ṩ, ƣ, ƿ, ə, þ, Ʊ, Ɂ, ʃ, Ʌ, Ƅ, ŋ, etc. Needless to say, you should have no trouble accessing your glyphs.
