assigning key to clear out part of previous char

there are situation where char can take on full or half form. I want to be able to assign char to a key and using “<” key to clear out right half of previous char.

in example the letter “P” would endup looking like letter “F” after i keyin the two char “P” “<”

or another example would be “U” “<” would yeald “L”

Open Type fonts support this feature, usually used for ligatures like fi. Font Creator doesn’t yet support adding Open Type features, and most Windows applications don’t support Open Type features yet either. You might be better off using your word-processor’s autocorrect for something like this, and just create the alternate glyph forms as extra glyphs in Font Creator.
